Rai Retsaki's Tutorial

The world around Rai began to digitize and fade away, only for her to see white all around her. There was the brisk feeling of her falling into empty space, the wind beating against her body. The functionality of the suit began its work and immediately she started to take on the Neko qualities and characteristics her character held.

Her slowing descent in the white space herald the coming of more digitized space. All around her an arena was being constructed, the pieces falling into each other perfectly. Olivia, no, Rai, was now at the center of the arena.

"Hello, new player!"

A cheerful voice beckoned toward Rai. A woman standing several feet in front of her appeared with burgundy hair, a modest bust, glasses and a green dress.



"My name is Mizuho Kazami, and I will be your sensei for the duration of this tutorial, onegai."

She bowed to her and smiled warmly.

The sight was too stunning for words and the feeling was even more intense. With soft, furry ears popping up from her head and her tail wrapping around her body, Rai would be born. Her slow descent would be followed by even further examination of her new body. It was certainly strange, but extremely comfortable. It was just as how she felt with her real one.

"Oh, hello there. My name is Ol-er... Rai Retsaki and I'm pleased to meet you."

She replied after turning towards the voice to see another face there to greet her with a bow also. It was when she looked up again that she would continue to speak.

"I'm ready to begin whenever you are."

Mizuho smiled at Rai for being quite amazed among her surroundings upon Lux Eterna Online. It was always exciting to see a newcomer experience the game in a brand new aspect.

"Certainly. Let's start things off with the introduction to Lux Eterna Online, shall we?"

(An opening animation played for Rai. It was an intense anime like opening, very different from the rather depressing and deep voiced narrator speaking out your goals and duty. This was more of like an open-ended visual novel like opening introducing and teasing at some in-game content)

After the intense opening Rai was "returned" back to the arena. Mizuho was then suddenly next to Rai, smiling. She'd hand her a starter kit that had everything she needed in order to get her journey started.

"Before starting on your journey, Rai-Chan, we shall have a brief tutorial upon the combat system in LEO."

Kazami-sensei inquired and with the snap of a finger, there came a Warhog that digitized into the game world, much like how Rai had entered the world the first time. The beast snorted and looked at its possible enemy with a narrowed and fearsome look.

From: Mizuho Kazami-Sensei

Details: Kazami-sensei advises all new players to test their battle skills out against a single warhog under her watchful eye. You cannot be killed, but unfortunately you will not gain any exp or receive any items.

Reward: Advice from Mizuho Kazami and a Kazami Coupon.

Words couldn't describe her amazement in all of what was happening. All she could do was sit back and enjoy the ride. Afterwards, she received the starter kit but couldn't bring herself to move on from the opening. This was only until a few moments after Mizuho began to talk that is. With the kit in hand she would look at the summoned Warhog and then back at her teacher, her face gleaming with questions and the burning desire to learn.

"Alright, so how would one go about utilizing the combat system in LEO?"

Mizuho would smile once more as she begins to explain the tutorial steps upon utilizing the combat system for the lesson. She equips one of the legendary weapons to demonstrate.

"In Lux Eterna Online, the combat system is all based on your movements and strikes along with the enemy movements as well. The combat system is based on chance at times, but careful strategy can create easy results. First, you'll want to ready your weapons upon encounter."

Another boar summons nearby the first boar. The second enemy focus towards Mizuho and narrow it eyes at her, keeping itself aggro to the attacker. She speaks out the steps.

"Next, you want to plan your attack. Based on your weapon choice, you may have to apply close combat for melee weaponry or ranged battles with ranged weaponry or magic. Once decided, go ahead and execute it at the threat."

She dashes towards the targeted boar and slashes it vertically, wiping it completely in one clean swipe without any trouble.

"Now you give it a try~"

"Well, don't mind if I do."

Rai said after watching a demonstration on how it's done right in front of her. With it in mind, she would equip the dagger she had been given within her starter kit as well as other items within it. Rai was now prepared to fight the beast as she pointed her sharp weapon towards it with a smile on her face. One could say that she was quite eager to jump into the fray. A bit too eager actually. Still, Rai would take off in its direction in attempts to deliver the first blow the would cut across the Warhog's side as she passed it by.

The warthog carefully analyzed Rai's movement as it was deemed a hostile attack towards it, snuffing out for a bit before dodging along the opposite side of where she was attacking. It hop away from her and begin to rev its foot, grinding it hard on the ground before charging headstrong towards her with a powerful rush to knock her back and damaging her if it would connect.

At the same time, Kazami yelled out to Rai to give her some quick advice on the next action that she should take.

"Your attack have missed! Dodge the oncoming attack and counter back against the target!"

Warthog's HP: 15/15

Rai's HP: 50/50

Quite unexpected, though nothing to fret over really. Her target was lucky to have evaded such an attack considering the damaged it would have done to it. Hopefully, for Rai, that wouldn't be the case this time. She quickly took in the advice of her guide after halting from her previous attack to prepare for her next. She waited patiently, watching execute its attack as it charged forward; still she wait. Waiting until it had just barely reached her position before she would leap horizontally over it in attempts to pierce its skull while continuing to slash the dagger done its spine to the base of its tail.

The horizontal leap pierce that Rai executed connects successfully with a powerful penetration on its skull, granting a critical strike against the boar along with a bonus status ailment stack on the creature as well. The warthog's head began to bleed out from the result of the blow and squeals out in pain, rampaging from the extra blows connecting against it. At the same time, the boar would knock Rai away from it in point blank range. Mizuho catches her and place her back on her own two feet.

"Nice job on granting a critical and a status ailment against the Warthog. Critical strikes allows bonus damage against the target which can greatly make or break the killing blow. Status Ailments are debuffs that can change the tide of any battle, regardless if its friend or foe. What you affected against the creature is known as the Bleed ailment."

The warthog rampaged a bit longer until it found the culprit, focusing itself towards Rai once more as it charges up once more for another blow. The bonus damage upon the bleed didn't apply on this tutorial. Mizuho explains the status of the foe.

"Bleed causes a damage over time (DoT for short) which cause the affected target to lose five hit points per second. In addition, they also take an attack and defense debuff that falls down by three points. This can be a crucial ailment if not treated properly. Now, continue with your combat tutorial."

The knock back from her opponent packed a bit of a punch seeing as how it forced Rai into the arms of Mizuho. She nodded in appreciation while getting back to her feet to eye her opponent down once more. As the explanation of what just happened came to an end Rai would take off towards the Warhog while attempting to slash at its face once within range. Though, before reaching it, she had to acknowledge Mizuho's words.

"That is some very interesting info to keep in mind. I do have a question though. What would be the damage difference between a normal strike and a critical strike?"

Rai's attack would be placed on hold during the moment since she has one more step in the tutorial to take. Mizuho answers Rai's question while explaining the next step as well.

"The damage difference between a normal strike and a critical strike is greatly double, tripled, and sometimes quadrupled based on the type of attack pattern, ability, equipment, and/or weak point. Our next step to pass through the tutorial is to utilize your magic ability to finish the boar. Using magic can greatly help out with any battle situation as many enemies have strengths and weaknesses based on the element used. Sometimes magic can heal you and your allies while also buffing the stats up. Sometimes it can be a powerful attack mixed in with a normal attack to cause devastating force."

"That all sounds rather helpful, but how would I use such abilities? Is there something I must press to activate it?"

She patiently awaited her answer from the guide with some more questions on her mind. Now wasn't the time to ask them though.

"Magic can be used in combination with your normal attack depending on what weapon type you're using or preferred. It can also be used separately by either activating it with a chant, hand movement/signature, or any way you wish to desire for easier use. You'll learn more abilities overtime as you play in LEO and can combine chain combos."

She replied to her question. Using magic and abilities is greatly influenced on the player's body more than bringing up the menu or UI Interface and clicking on the ability.

"Well then I think I've heard enough then. Shall we continue?"

Now that was interesting. A variety of ways available to use magic to be easier on the caster would make this whole experience go a lot smoother now. Now she had to think what the best way for her to use it would be.

"Very well. Complete the final step and we'll complete the quest~."

She said delightfully as she snaps her fingers, allowing Rai free movement once more to begin the final step of using magic and abilities.

"Will do!"

With free movement once again, Rai would be still in order think about how to go about things. It would only take mere seconds until she knew what she wanted and continued her advancement toward the Warhog. It was at that moment that she began to draw a circle in the air with her finger and would poke the center upon completion which would activate a flash of light once she reached its position. This was the activation of her Bright Burst spell.

The warthog rushes head-on towards Rai with full speed as it arch its head down and it fangs up high, aiming to punish and pierce her with them. However, the arrogant piggy fell into prey upon Rai's 'Bright Burst' ability, running straight towards the flash of light to be struck down by the magic powers and crashes on the ground in defeat. It squeals out one more cry before dying and de-virtualizing into the world. Victory for Rai! A jingle plays to signalize that the quest was complete and the tutorial is finished. Mizuho claps cheerfully for Rai's success in the tutorial.

"Congratulations! You've have completed the combat tutorial for LEO! That was a nice display of might and magic you've shown out there, Rai-Chan!"

"Alright!~ That was a wonderful experience."

Rai clapped her furry little hands together in glee as the jingle played for her. It was her first battle being in the game. Even if it was just a tutorial battle it was still a battle and so she would appreciate it just the same. Well, not yet seeing as she hadn't really had a real battle yet but you get the point.

"Well thank you, Mizuho! So, what's next on the list?"

Mizuho looks at Rai with a light smile and eyes closed. There was nothing more to demonstrate physically for the time being since the combat tutorial was mainly the only one new players needed in Leo. All that matters now is to rely on her own judgment within LEO and adapt to the world.

"There isn't anything else that you need to demonstrate, Rai-Chan. The tutorial is complete. I can send you to the Kingdom of Raizen right away so you can begin your journey or answer any questions that you may still have."

"No questions here. It was a pleasure meeting you, Mizuho!~"

Rai spoke with a smile the likes of which was warm and inviting. She didn't know when the next time she'd be seeing her again, but hoped it would be soon. And on that note she would end her time here with a wave goodbye.

She nods and smiles lightly at Rai some more, snapping her fingers to open up a beam of light right behind her. She took a bow to thank her for partaking in the tutorial and handing her a Kazami Ticket. Its a valuable key item that isn't used for anything yet due to closed beta, but it is a nice token to keep as a gift.

"It was a pleasure meeting you too, Rai-Chan!~ Hope you enjoy your journey and create tales in the world of LEO."

"I'll be sure to. Bye now!"

She bowed while taking the ticket. She might not have known what it did be it was a nice sentiment to take with her as she stepped into the light behind her and was gone.
