The Onslaught Begins

Snow entered the field in a full sprint. He didn't care about other players or monsters. The realism of the game was kicking his instincts into high gear. He glanced around, searching for the items first and was trying to locate a source of water to get the easier quest over with first. At the same time, his rapier was in his hand, ready to pierce into anyone or anything that got in his way. He was rushing Westward, but soon, would start heading Northwest, towards a boulder littered area.

The adventure begins for Snow on his everlasting journey in the world of Lux Eterna Online. Journeying over to the Western side of the starting point within the Silvergrass Plateau, there wasn't much to hunt down since other players were taking on the enemies lurking about for quests or to reach the next level.  When Snow went Northwest, however, there were very few players around there due to a few of the stronger enemies lurking about that can be a bait trap for them. As he travels to the boulder littered area known as the Rocky Plains, there would be a Warhog wandering about sniffling for some berries within the area. It mind it own business unless hostile.

As Snow noticed the Warhog while he was sprinting, he wouldn't even bother with stopping. He would turn, step on one of the smaller boulders and launch himself in the air. Poising the rapier with his eyes narrowed, Snow attempted to get the drop on the Warhog by stabbing right through it's body. With his free hand, he had already started conjuring up a flame.

The boar continued to sniff around for a bit longer until it notice the shadow underneath was getting wider than expected, snorting out once in confusion. Once it looked up, it was far too late to make evasive actions as Snow's sky diving pierce on its body made contact. The beast squealed like crazy while it body was rumbling about to get him off of it. The preemptive strike caused it to panic, losing a turn before it can calm itself down. Unfortunately, there was no choice for the boar to resist since the attack instantly killed it with one clean drop. The warhog faints and drops dead, dissolving into the world once more before dropping the rewards for Snow.

Snow would feel the warmth of the exp entering him and would collect the items instantly. Looking around, he would continue to charge the fire spell in his hand. There couldn't have been just one enemy in the area.

Within the same area on standby, Snow would notice from afar a couple more Warhogs clashing heads with one another in an attempt to attract the opposite mate. They were riled up with adrenaline to impress the female Warhog as much as possible. On the opposite side, there would be a Lizardman roaming about after slashing away a couple of Dagger Wasp for their honey that it harvested in a jar.

Snow smiled darkly at the new monsters. Moving to hide behind a boulder, he took a deep breath. Then he would jump to the top of the boulder and cast his spell, Finger Flare, right at the unsuspecting Lizardman as it was filling up its jar. With the spell cast, Snow would once again leap from the boulder and this time go running towards the Warhogs. His reckless behavior was fueled by the fight he had wanted earlier with the delinquents at Punk Pass Bridge. He was taking his frustration out on the creatures of the game and a sadistic laugh was struggling to get out of his chest.

"I'll slaughter everything in my way!"

He bellowed.

The Lizardman didn't see the unexpected attack coming towards it while it was harvesting honey from the beehive. The 'Finger Flare' struck the lizard straightfoward and burning it alive in one engulf, dropping it dead onto the ground as it screams in agony from the horrible pain. The sudden rush towards the Warhogs greatly warned them as the female boar squealed in terror, running away from the madman with the sadistic laugh. The other two boars scattered away from Snow as well and teamed up against him as well. Hell hath no fury over a person that interrupts an animal mating challenge to spread their offspring. They rev up their feet and snouts to prepare the ass whooping of the fool.

Snow stood up straight and put a hand to his head as he began to laugh out loud. Then he grinned sadistically again and faced the two Warhogs, taking his rapier into a ready position.

"What's wrong? Did I interrupt your stupid little game? Well come on! I'll play with you now!"

With his words Snow began to slowly walk towards one of the Warhogs with a dark chuckle escaping from his lips. If anyone saw him they would think he had truly lost it.

The two Warhogs rush towards Snow in a furious manner, zigzagging several times to make the pattern a bit confusing on where they're gonna strike. The first Warhog lowers it head and raise its tusk to attempt a good ole fashion 'Gore' strike on Snow, aiming to fiercely strike him down with a chance to 'Bleed'. The other boar did the same thing, but instead leaped forward from behind once the first boar did its attack at snow, aiming for an airborne tackle against him.

Snow laughed at the clumsy attempts at zigzaging. This game was funny to give them that ability since it was impossible for hogs to perform feats like that. It made wanting to skin them alive even more satisfying. Either way, Snow wouldn't be fooled by the pathetic attempt to confuse him. They were obviously going to try and tackle him anyway. That's all the stupid little nuisances could do. And that's just what Snow called them.

"...Nuisances."

Just like the delinquents on the bridge. In the same manner as he did on the bridge, Snow moved to the side, at the same moment that the boars would be attempting to hit him from both sides. A kick to the side for speed should've allowed him to move in time to let the two stupid monsters collide into each other, or for the air borne boar to land right on its partner. Either way, he wouldn't kick away far enough to prevent his next action. He would lunge forward to stab into the Warhog that would be airborne. At the same time he would put all his strength into the attack to roll over the Warhog that had went low, knowing if the strike hit, it would kill the airborne Warhog and put him in a position so that he could just turn and face the last enemy.

"You should've attacked separately. Then you would have at least hit me. Too bad, you're just dumb animals though."

Snow was on a killing spree! The sadistic adrenaline pumping into him dominated many incoming foes within mere seconds. The Warhogs duo attack failed miserably as Snow took the chance to easily wipe the face of them with a simple pierce and take down on the airborne one. This only left Warhog A by itself to one-on-one against the menace right in front of him. Usually enemies tend to run away from noticing the reckless assault that their opponent is giving him. Unfortunately, the Warhogs aren't that smart mentally. It continues onward with another 'Gore' attempt at him.

Outside the area, however, were a couple of unknown enemies that caught their attention towards Snow. Watching carefully while chuckling menacingly at him.

"Well well well. What do we have here. A rising star in the making?"

Eyeing the last Warhog with mirth, Snow held his arms to the side, almost as if giving the Warhog the okay to attack him. However, a gleam in his eyes said otherwise. He was already starting to conjure the magic needed to cast Finger Flare again since the cool down was already over. The Warhog was as good as dead, as soon as it made its move. Yet still...

It wasn't enough.

After Snow's reckless montage was over against the boars, out came no where a 'Poison Barb' shot towards him in a sharp manner, aiming to pierce through him with a devastating poison that will greatly harm the body with the 'Poison' ailment. A deadly side effect that does damage over time. The unknown figure remain hidden within the shadows and await to see what the boy was going to do. A few creaks from its wooden structure whistled out.

After Snow had slain the last Warhog and his quest updated to show that he could complete the 'Get your Feet Wet' quest, he was about to venture off to find the other items for his mission. Unfortunately, his thoughts would be interrupted as a piercing pain shot through his shoulder.

"Gah!"

He cried out in pain and did a combat roll to face the direction the attack had come from.

'The hell...was...that?'

He felt his body growing cold and getting weak.

'Poison?'

Snow mustered up his strength and backed away, putting his back to one of the large boulders so he could see all out in front of him, even with the stabbing pain in his body.

'Damn, this hurts for real. I didn't expect the game to go this far. I've never felt this much pain even in real life...'

As fast as he could, Snow winked his right eye to open the menu and then selected an Antidote Leaf. Afterward, he ingested the the bitter leaf to take care of the poison.

From watching Snow feel the discomforting side effects from the 'Poison Barb', the unknown figure couldn't help but laugh as the demise. It walks out to reveal itself from the shadows at him with a devilish and mischievous grin on its face. The appearance is that of a pre-teen puppet child made out of solid wood with childish clothes on it body. Alongside it was a Mech Spider awaiting on standby right on its left shoulder. It hands holding a metallic staff with a magnum socket for it barbs. The unknown figure is nothing more than the mischievous Novice Mecromancer.

"I applaud you for keeping yourself prepared and having a sadistic massacre, mortal. However, you're becoming a nuisance for...Well let's just say I like to take down the confident and cocky challengers!"


He tosses out another 'Poison Barb' at Snow with the same sharp speed towards him, aiming to pierce the guy once more with another painful discomfort of its homemade mixture.

Snow's panic settled and his gaze became neutral as the Mechromancer made itself known. Checking the stats, Snow knew fighting the puppet and the little mech spider would be suicide without a plan. So as the damn puppet was talking, Snow selected a healing seed and ingested it just as the Mechromancer shot out another Poison Barb. With no room to really do anything, Snow settled for dropping to a crouch, hopefully letting the poison barb fly right over head and strike the boulder. In the same motion, Snow would push all his weight back up, attempting to leap up and into a backflip, to land on the boulder. In the same fluid motion, he would roll backwards to land on the other side of the boulder and out of sight of the Mechromancer.

'Alright, I just need to get myself together. I won't run away...just yet.'

Snow took a deep breath again and removed the initial barb from his shoulder, seeing that the Healing seed was going to heal the wound mostly anyway.

Unlike the Warhogs that Snow has faced, the Novice Mecromancer will push his abilities and strategies to the highest caliber. The puppet taps the Mech Spider on its shoulder once to activate it, bringing the disabled creature into full functionality with its magic. The metal arachnid leaps off it master and begin to crawl within the spare patches of grass within the boulder fields, keeping itself blended within the environment and awaits for its chance to strike.  The Mecromancer conjure a bit of magic on its own to lure out Snow from hiding so it can face him. It readied its metal staff to fling out its 'Tremor Pike' towards the boulder where he was hiding behind, the Earth magic is strong enough to pierce through the boulder and possibly shatter it all together.

"You can run, but you can't hide!"

Snow's eyes widened as the stone behind him burst to pieces. Thankfully, the boulder shattering should have taken care of the earth pike as well since there wasn't a multi-pierce effect on the weak spell.

Snow let out a curse and raised his rapier, facing the the Mechromancer. He almost panicked until her realized something...

'He can use magic too?'

The thought pissed Snow off. Where it would have frightened others, it seemed like an unfair advantage to a fucking puppet that could poison you AND control machines. Now it could use magic? Snow was going to rip it apart!

"You're nothing but a toy!"

Snow yelled  and dashed forward. However, instead of going straight at the Mechromancer, he threw his rapier first. The rapier was aimed directly at the Mechromancer's face. Snow had disarmed himself. At the same time, he would notice the Mech Spider's health bar on the ground since he had already seen it, meaning it could not get a sneak attack on him. Keeping his eye on the spider, he began to strafe around it, making sure he would be able to dodge an attempt of an attack if need be. However, he was still moving towards the Mechromancer.

The Mech Spider remained in standby, keeping it distance as it strafe and wander around the field while remaining nearby towards Snow and the Mecromancer. The puppet sinister grin remained on its face while twirling its face around 360 degrees. Crackles a maniac laugh as it sees Snow rushing towards him, strafing around itself to  evade the oncoming rapier that is thrown at him. make him follow each other in a circular motion while taunting him to come face-to-face. Even if it knows magic, it can still go toe-to-toe in combat with its metal staff. During the moment, it begin to build up energy for the time being.

"A toy, you say? Then show me how you use that toy of a blade, mortal! I'm right here to be slashed away by your might! Hell, I'll let you pick up your blade for free!!"

Snow would grunt at the Mechromancer and finally rip his eyes from them. The rapier had gone and embedded in another boulder behind the Mechromancer, just as Snow wanted. Rushing to the weapon, Snow leaped up, grabbed the hilt and launched himself into the air. Twirling around, Snow would let loose a Finger Flare a the Mechromancer. But instead of waiting to see if it hit, Snow landed on the boulder and then jumped to another, attempting to leave the battlefield. This was not a winning battle, especially with the damn thing keeping its distance. Snow wasn't going to let it bait him into being the one to come close, especially since it had allies in the form of Mech Spiders. So with a grudging breath, Snow was attempting to escape.

He had already placed himself closer towards Raizen. All he had to do was run until he reached it, just like how he had ran into the field.

'Wait, I can't return just yet. Besides, as smart as the AI is, the Mechromancer would possibly just follow me to the town and await my return to the field. Plus, I still have several other quest to complete...fine then.'

Only a few feet from the battlefield, standing atop one last boulder before the ground once again became an open field, Snow would stop. Running never solved anything anyway. He learned that years ago...from his parents...

"Dammit."

Snow growled and he turned, sure that the Mechromancer was following. He wouldn't run now. He would stand and fight to the best of his ability.

When the Mecromancer saw Snow retreating from the battle, it boosted the puppet's killing instinct upon taking down such a ravaging prey. He chased after him, but remained cautious for any surprise attacks or antics that the guy may throw out at him. The Mech Spider followed shortly after alongside the master. During the cat and mouse chase as Snow ran, he scoop out another 'Poison Barb within the fields to aim at his leg, piercing it with another chance to poison him badly without his notice of the attack. When Snow stopped and turned around to face the Mecromancer once more, so would the 'Poison Barb be very near itself to make impact. It would be quite a difficult feat for him to avoid it at all if he wasn't quick enough to pay attention. However, there was one small problem.

While being on the thrill of the hunt, it disregarded the 'Finger Flare' from above and got struck down upon impact. The intense adrenaline rush that the puppet felt overcome its sense of awareness. It began to scream in agony from being burned alive and turned into nothing more than a camp fire resting place. Before it completely turn into ashes, it let out one last crackle laughter and words before speaking at Snow.

"HEHEHEHEHE~!! Don't think you've won so easily because you used fire, mortal. If you can't handle the heat of the battle, then don't stick yourself in the oven's Frey!! Best to stay home and cry like the-"

Before it could finish off the rest of it words, the Mecromancer dissolved into the world. The Mech Spider crawls back to its original home point where it belong, hoping to find another master to train it. Victory given to Snow.
